Meet the Founder
An interview with Laura, founder and artist behind Laura’s Palette
At Laura’s Palette, art isn’t just a service, it’s a story in motion. From childhood drawings to fine-art wedding stationery, Laura has always followed her instinct for beauty, craftsmanship, and imaginative design. We spoke with her about her creative upbringing, her process, and why collaboration is at the heart of her studio.
Laura, where does your creative story begin?
Laura: Art has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. My mother was a fashion designer, so our home was filled with textiles, color swatches, sketchbooks...everything a curious kid could dream of. I was drawing before I could write.
I never liked coloring books, I’d scribble outside the lines, then turn the page over and draw something entirely new. That urge to explore, imagine, and create freely has stayed with me ever since.
Was there a moment when you knew you’d turn that into a career?
Not exactly one moment but many quiet ones. Even as I worked in fashion and e‑commerce for luxury brands, I was always painting in the background. Eventually, the pull became too strong to ignore. I wanted to build something of my own. That’s when I started Laura’s Palette, a studio that celebrates thoughtful design, meaningful connection, and beautifully crafted paper goods.
How would you describe the heart of your work?
It’s about honoring both intuition and intention. My process is guided by creativity, but also by care, whether I’m sketching a couple’s wedding invitations or painting a beloved pet. I value craftsmanship, so I work with expert partners in printing, letterpress, and paper sourcing, ensuring each detail is just right.
It’s never just about how something looks, it’s about how it feels.
What makes a Laura’s Palette piece unique?
I think it's the blend of playfulness and precision. I always aim to bring a sense of joy, a painterly lightness but nothing is off-the-shelf. Whether fully bespoke or semi-custom, every piece is thoughtfully considered and made to resonate with the person receiving it.
Collaboration seems central to your work. Why is that?
Because creativity isn’t a solo act. I work closely with clients to understand their story and vision. At the same time, I rely on trusted production partners: printers, letterpress artists, paper specialists, who bring their own mastery to the process.
There’s something magical about aligning everyone’s strengths to bring an idea to life.
Tell us about a project that really stuck with you.
One that comes to mind is a custom wedding suite where I painted the bride’s bouquet, the groom’s childhood home, and their dog lounging by a lemon tree. Every element had a story—and together, it told their story.
Later, they told me their guests kept the invitation as art. That meant the world.
Where do you find inspiration now?
Nature. Travel. Architecture. And honestly...conversations. When someone shares their story, or a small detail that matters to them, it often sparks the clearest idea.
I’m also inspired by the physicality of materials...thick cotton paper, the texture of letterpress, the pull of a brush across wet pigment.
What’s next for Laura’s Palette?
I’m expanding the semi-bespoke collections, offering clients more ways to personalize existing designs. I’d also love to introduce creative kits and possibly host watercolor workshops, so more people can tap into their creativity, no matter their skill level.
Final question: what guides your work, every day?
Three things: creativity, solution-finding, and craftsmanship. I believe in making something beautiful but also meaningful, intentional, and well-made. That’s what I strive for in every project, big or small.
